Mudgee Explorer Tours

Before the impending storm arrived at our doors in Mudgee, we cranked up the Kylie Monogue and hit the road in search of good times and good wines. Our first stop at #1838 Wines was a prime location for our first tasting as well Olive and Olive Oil products. Lady Gaga was the soundtrack en route to #Huntington Estate Wines as we indulged in their vineyard grown, oak aged varieties from some of the oldest vines in Mudgee. It's here that we learned exactly what makes a $100 bottle of wine worth $100. At #ElephantMountain cellar door we witnessed the 'grapeness' of a truly excellent wine tasting and practiced our best Zoolander Blue Steel poses for the camera. For lunch we enjoyed the delights on the menu at #Burrundulla, trying samples of their wines while we waited for lunch to arrive. From #FirstRidge we watched the menacing thunderstorm roll across the valley over a glass of Barbara as the encroaching driving rain, punctuated by lighting bolts, washed over the top of us like a molasses wave, prompting speculation as to the safety of being inside a large metal box atop a hill in an electrical storm. When the light show finally subsided, we departed. A stunning Mudgee Explores Tour Bus Choir rendition of Blondie's Total Eclipse of the Heart brought us into #GoorePark Cellar Door and Pantry with our spirits high. There, a blind tasting put our palates to the test and demonstrated the palpable effect of terrior (geography) on grape varieties as was evident in the 2016 Semillon's unique Mudgee Region flavor.
As if on cue, the rain subsided and we called it a day, exalted after an incredible day of Mudgee wine tasting.
Thanks again to everyone who joined us at #MudgeeExplorers for such a great, albeit stormy spring day.

Fantasic Sunday exploring! Jess and Morgan, Barb and Pete and cousins Jo, Ness, Terese and Katie began the day at Thistle Hill where James gave us a super fun and informative tasting. It was a definite stand out for all on board. We tried some yummy local produce before a delicious lunch and tasting at Burrendulla Wines.
Next up was a little taste of Italy at First Ridge, the views and the wine was just perfect to relax after a lovely lunch.
We finished the day at Small Winemakers for a good laugh and great variety of wine.
Thanks for a wonderful day friends

A magical day to be out and about yesterday.
The gardens at Mansfield Wines were looking pretty amazing with some beautiful snap dragons, roses and climbers.
We got hit by a rain bomb at Baker Williams Distillery and Vinifera Wines, and watched the skies open up over the vines.
Catching the breeze on the deck at Petersons was the perfect opportunity to catch up, unwind and take in the Mudgee vibe.
Thanks for coming, friends 😊

What an AWESOME day! Lots of laughs in the sun, and in the rain, the hail, the lightening and then puddle jumping at Peterson's Wines. Nothing was going to dampen the spirits of my fabulous explorers today!
Billi and Brandon, Janelle and Dee, and Marg, Gavin and the crew began their tasting adventure at the beautiful Bunamagoo. The wine, the views and the warm welcome was a perfect start to the day. Mansfield Wines next up and our guests were getting along like old friends and enjoyed every moment tasting and chatting away with Ian and Malcolm.
We visited Heslop Wines for a delightful tasting in the gardens.
Loading up the bus to head to lunch I thought maybe I'd better do an emergency wine drop off - but never fear- the fellas' wine tetris game was strong! Doug, Dave and Gavin had it all sorted!
Lunch at Walter Wines was amazing and the wines impressive. I loved seeing our guests having such a wonderful experience.
We watched the storm blow through in the warmth and comfort of Robert Oatley, and hey - where else would you rather be?... Magical Mudgee of course!

Saturday afternoon was Girls Day Out on the Team Sue bus today.
Denise and the girls from Canowindra , and Melissa and the girls from The Hills district in Sydney jumped on board for another first class treatment from our regions Cellar Doors.
We kicked off with a VIP tasting by Jacqueline at Gooree, with the girls being very competitive with the "blind tastings".
Secondly a rural outlook and wonderful tasting by Brian and Jillian at Elephant Mountain.
Our final stop was The Small Winemakers Centre where as the first tastings were poured by Mick, it coincided with an enormous storm hitting town. We had to bunker in for a while sipping Furlongs delightful Ports until the storm passed.
(Good excuse ! )
Thanks for choosing Mudgee Explorer Tours today girls, and safe travels home.

Today's tasting was of a different variety to the usual bazaar of vineyard produce courtesy of the Mudgee region. Our explorers today instead sought the delights to be found in Mudgee's artisanal products. After a brief pause at #FirstRidge to take in the visual feast of the Cudgegong valley and mountain ranges beyond, we embarked to #ArilEstate to dabble in their locally grown produce, departing happily laden with handmade preserves. At #BroombeeOrganics the rustic charm of country life harkening to the era of the Great War adorned the shelves and nooks as we indulged in delicacies from Mudgee's oldest organic vineyard thanks to the magnificently moustached winemaker, Barry. A leisurely lunch at #Moothi Estate gave us pause to appreciate the good things in life as we grazed lazily upon a ploughman's platter, and gazed over the rolling hills of the valley, ebbing like an ocean tide frozen in time. Robert #Stein's and #Vinifera were sure to follow after we had rallied morale on pleasantly full stomachs. To cap off the day, an educational detour to #RobertOatley's Cellar Door Museum presented a window through time to an age where the brave and daring forged the very irons that carried wealth, prosperity and (most importantly) wine to the colonial Australian outback wilderness that has since become the Mudgee region.
In all it was a fantastic day that proved definitively that wine isn't the only fascinating attraction to be enjoyed in Mudgee. Thanks again to Julie and Dave for joining us today and we look forward to having you again!

As the welcome rain soaked the ground so we did likewise soak our palates with classic Mudgee region wines. To start the morning off, #Huntington Estate's classical range of Australian wines took us on a meandering wander through the last quarter century as we enjoyed the subtleties of their vintages. One of Mudgee's Legacy winemaking families #Stein's Cellar door and organic vineyard astounded and aroused the tastebuds with their signature range of wines. An appropriately short tasting at #ShortSheep preceded a tactfully brief sampling of #Peterson's wines as well as a little amature birdwatching. At #Mansfield Wines we sampled their delightful Spanish varietal wines.
Thanks to Chris and her husband Frank for joining us at #MudgeeExplorers for an awesome morning wine tasting in Mudgee.

Mudgee Explorer Tours

Spring has yielded yet another glorious day in Mudgee, the sky a patchwork of lofty cirrus clouds set behind the occasional fluffy white nimbus punctuating the sapphire blue sky. Our tour, despite a few hiccups, began with an historic education into winemaking technology and technique at #RobertOatley Craigmoore cellar door. We took the scenic route to our next stop at the #SmallWinemakerCenter where our resident singing maker Johnny Furlong failed to disappoint anyone present with a bespoke wine tasting from a collective of local winemakers.
A brief interlude at #ThistleHill Organic Vineyard preceded our lunch at #Burnbrae before we set off to another all-star organic winery, #Stein's Wines.
At #Huntington Estate we detected delicate arrangements of subtle flavors present in their incredible array of vineyard varieties. Finally we were well accommodated at #Mansfield Wines as we unwound an industrious endeavour in wine tasting throughout the Mudgee Region.
Thanks again to everyone who joined us today at #MudgeeExplorers! We look forward to seeing you all again.

Mudgee Explorer Tours

What better way to kick off a weekend away in Mudgee than with a #MudgeeExplorers Wine Tasting Tour. Our morning begins at
#ElephantMountain Cellar Door, as the neighbourhood equines curiously approach our van and disembarking party. We soak in the flavours of their small vineyard varieties and indulge in the fruits of the labour of Jacob Stein's Footcrush festival.
The delecate arrangements of aromas and flavours were ours to discover as we sampled the array of Spanish varietal wines on offer at #Vinifera before a brief stroll over to #BakerWilliamsDistillery to try their delightful range of handmade gin and liqueurs. To cap off the morning we tucked into a cozy nook at #Walter wines and tasted their largely underrated varieties of wines before calling it a day.

Thank you everyone for joining us at #MudgeeExplorers! We hope you had as much fun today as we did having you.
